Whether you are new to Isle of Wight County Schools (IWCS) because your child has just reached school age or because you are new to our area, we are pleased to have the opportunity to serve you.
This area of our website was developed to help you find all the information you need to get started in IWCS as well as answers to the questions you have. If you have questions or need information that is not addressed here, please contact us.
The Transportation Department develops bus routes and stops each year. This information is published approximately one week before school begins.
Whenever possible, bus stops will placed at a street corner. Bus stops are designed to be no more than 2/10 (.2) miles from a student's home, per School Board policy. Parents are encouraged to walk elementary school students to and from the bus stop, and to be at the stop10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. All stop times are approximate and can vary based on conditions such as traffic, road conditions, and new stops based on student enrollment changes.

Bus Routes
PLEASE NOTE THAT RUNS ARE CONTINUALLY UPDATED THROUGH THE FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL. PLEASE ARRIVE AT STOP 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO LISTED BUS TIME. FOR QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT THE TRANSPORTATION OFFICE AT 357-9926, 357-8816 or 357-8048.
TEACH YOUR CHILD TO GET ON AND OFF THE BUS SAFELY:
- When getting on the bus, stay away from the danger zone and wait for the driver's signal. Board the bus one at a time.
- When getting off the bus, look before stepping off the bus to be sure no cars are passing on the shoulder (side of the road). Move away from the bus.
- Before crossing the street, take five "giant steps" out from the front of the bus, or until the driver's face can be seen (A). Wait for the driver to signal that it's safe to cross.
- Look left-right-left when coming to the edge of the bus to make sure traffic is stopped. Keep watching traffic when crossing.
