About Me

I received my bachelor's degree in English with a political science minor and a journalism emphasis from Christopher Newport University in 1994. I received my master's degree in education with an emphasis in library media science from Old Dominion University in 2010. I taught high school English for 5 years from 1999 through 2004 and then became a library media specialist. I was the library media specialist at L. P. Jackson Middle School in Surry County for 9 years from 2004 through 2013. I was the library media specialist at Windsor Elementary School from 2013 through 2015. I have been the library media specialist here at GTMS since August of 2015. My goal is for all of the students of GTMS to become excellent users of ideas and information. My focus is to collaboratively teach through project based learning that implements technology. I also hope to inspire each student to enjoy reading and learning for pleasure.
