My name is Chris Waddell, and I am excited to be teaching at Georgie Tyler Middle School! I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, but always felt the calling to be a teacher. After a few years of working in the business field, I returned to school at Old Dominion University and received my teaching license through the Career Switcher Program. From there, I spent some time with Chesapeake Public Schools doing a little bit of everything, working as a substitute teacher, a long-term sub, and a Teacher Assistant. In 2018 I was hired at Portsmouth Christian Schools, where I taught Math 6, Math 7, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I. I began working with Isle of Wight County Schools in 2020, teaching Math 7.
My goal is to see my students learn to (or continue to) love and appreciate math, and understand how they can apply what they have learned to the real world. I will strive to make math class both fun and creative, and help my students reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
