About Me
Since graduating from Liberty University in 2012, I have been teaching in the state of Virginia and abroad for 9 years. My first teaching position was at an Ukarumpa International School in Papua New Guinea. Upon returning to the U.S., I took a position teaching in Accomack County Public Schools where I taught for 4 years. I was then offered a position to teach in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. After teaching there for 2 years, I decided to move a bit closer to home and took a position teaching English 8 for Isle of Wight County Schools. English is a fascinating language! In English 8 my goal is to empower my students not only with the ability to understand what they read and what they hear, but to be effective writers and speakers themselves. Students will learn to analyze literature on a 3 dimensional rather than 2 dimensional level. We explore how authors use the elements of each genre to convey their message to readers. Students will also focus heavily on crafting their own messages to an intended audience through both expository and persuasive essays.
